Penn State’s LinkedIn Learning migration from Lynda.com was completed on August 16. Users may have received conflicting e-mails from LinkedIn Learning about how to log in to your Penn State LinkedIn Learning account. It is recommended that users log in to their LinkedIn Learning account at linkedinlearning.psu.edu at any time via Web Access to familiarize themselves with the new interface.

Here are some important updates and reminders for users who may have linked Lynda.com videos to courses in Canvas:

Faculty and instructional designers are advised to update links to point to specific videos, otherwise the links will redirect to the course overview page.

When sharing LinkedIn Learning links, the “u=76811570” at the end of the URL is Penn State University’s unique ID.

Currently, links shared via URL in Canvas require students to be logged into their LIL accounts to access specific course material. To avoid this second log in, you can add “&auth=true” to the end of the URL, after Penn State University’s unique ID (please see screen shot below).

The shared link should look like this:
Shared link format

LinkedIn Learning is working on a permanent solution to the issue and more information will be provided as it becomes available.

As an alternative to adding the “&auth=true” in the shared link, faculty and instructional designers can also create and share collections. The following KB articles contain step-by-step instructions for creating and sharing collections:

As a reminder, faculty and instructional designers will have until December 31, 2019 to duplicate their Lynda.com playlist by creating a collection in LinkedIn Learning or updating all Lynda links with LinkedIn Learning links.
